Of course, as you make car payments on time, your credit rating gets better.
Those consumers who come to us and want to rebuild their credit are told straight up that they have to make all their payments on time—not just the car payment—in order to rebuild credit.
But the fact that we report on-time car payments to credit bureaus does absolutely help with everything.
We have a number of success stories about customers who started out rebuilding their credit with us by financing a car. For some reason or other, they had fallen on hard times and their credit got bruised. So they came to us, we financed a car for them, they made those payments on time as well as timely payments on other things. After a while they were able to move on and buy a house and do everything else that being in a position to qualify for financing helps them do in order to move forward in life.
One benefit to making payments on time along with other payment responsibilities is that not only does your credit rating improve, by the time you are ready for a different vehicle, you can upgrade.

I think some misconceptions about car dealerships and even independent dealerships are that it’s hard to get approved for a decent rate, and if you’ve had credit issues in the past you can’t get approved for a nicer, newer car—if at all.
That couldn’t be further from the truth. You can. I think other misperceptions are that the vehicles sold on buy-here pay-here lots are as-is, so buyer beware. That’s not the case with our dealerships.
